This guide takes you from download to a working Discord bot. A bot needs a token, the right permissions and the right gateway intents. Most setup problems are one of those three. ObeliskOS ASA Bot is built around Python, so have it ready.

Magzan's screenshot gives you an idea of the end result you are aiming for.
Before you start
Gather these first. Installing ObeliskOS ASA Bot with everything ready takes minutes; finding out halfway that something is missing is how servers end up broken.
- An ARK: Survival Ascended community with a Discord server you manage.
- A Discord application and bot token from the Discord Developer Portal.
- A fresh backup of your server or project, taken right before you start.
Back up first
A backup turns any mistake during setup into a two minute rollback. It takes a moment and is the single best habit a server owner can have.
- Export the bot's config and environment file.
- Copy its database or data folder if it has one.
- Note which Discord permissions and roles you gave it.
Install steps
Magzan has not added step by step instructions to the listing, so these are the usual steps for a Discord bot on ARK: Survival Ascended. The creator's description has the details specific to ObeliskOS ASA Bot; follow it wherever it differs.
- Download ObeliskOS.zip (378 KB) from the resource page while signed in.
- Extract it on your computer first. Look inside before uploading: some archives contain a single folder that itself holds the files.
- Create a bot application in the Discord Developer Portal, add a bot user and copy its token.
- Put the token and your server details into the bot's config or environment file, then install its packages.
- Invite the bot to your Discord server with the permissions the creator lists, then start it.
Applying the change
When in doubt, restart the server. It is the one method that always loads the latest files and config.
Check it worked
Do not open the server to players until these all hold:
- The bot shows as online in your member list.
- Its slash commands appear when you type / in a channel it can see.
- You can see the change in game, or in Discord for bots.
Compare what you see with the creator's screenshot in Figure 2.

If your setup looks like this, ObeliskOS ASA Bot is installed and running.
After installing
- Write down the version you installed; you will need it when asking for help or updating.
- Keep the original download in your backups so you can reinstall the same version later.
- Tell your players what ObeliskOS ASA Bot adds, so they know what to try.
Next steps
- Configuration guide : tune the settings to your server.
- Troubleshooting : if anything above did not go to plan.
