not necessarily, if you can find a host that supports that API that would work too

^^ server blend is the official partner of arkserverapi, I don't know any others myself but a dedicated server is by far the best alternative

Thank you for this information, i'm looking into getting a host, so far I've found that citadelservers support ARK Server API and have stated they offer one click install mods. I made a thread here:

that host appears to be quite expensive, and on top of that they charge for removing the branding

I would stay far away from that and just get a dedicated machine from https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver for the same price, maybe a bit expensive
